Meg Ryan
Meg Ryan, blonde-haired and blue-eyed
she was born Margaret Mary Emily Hyra in Fairfield Connecticut to Susan
(Duggan) the former actress and English teacher and Harry Hyra, a maths
teacher. Ruthenian and Polish, Irish, German and German descendents. "Hyra",
her maternal grandmother's maiden name is Ruthenian. Meg graduated from Bethel
high school in Bethel in June 1979. She relocated to New York and majored as a
journalist at New York University. Meg Ryan was her new name and she began acting
to earn money as she finished her education. Her debut on screen came in 1981
when she made a brief appearance as Candice Bergen's daughter in George Cukor's
final film Rich and Famous (1981). She was cast in the character of Betsy in
the TV soap As the World Turns (1956) after she had a go at. The show had her
in the cast from 1982 until 1984. Meg was also a part of the television series
One of the Boys (1982), which was quickly ended. In 1984, Meg emigrated to
Hollywood, and was offered a position with the western television Series
Wildside (1985). Meg's role in the blockbuster film Top Gun (1986) led to her
being included in Steven Spielberg's Innerspace (1987) where she co-starred
with Dennis Quaid. In D.O.A.'s remake, she once again starred alongside Quaid.
(1988) The two were wed on Saint Valentine's Day 1991. Meg appeared in 1989's
When Harry Met Sally... (1989), and the restaurant scene was made famous. Meg
was nominated for both the Golden Globe and the BAFTA. In 1990, she co-starred
with Tom Hanks in Joe Versus the Volcano (1990) and this time she played three
roles as DeDe/Angelica/Patricia. She also appeared in of the critically
acclaimed Sleepless in Seattle (1993) and received nominations for the Golden
Globe. Meg was able to break away from the established norms in 1994 when she
played the role of Meg's wife who is an alcoholic and motherin "When a Man
Loves a Woman" (1994). After that, Meg went back to her "cute"
I.Q. (1994) and French Kiss (1995). In 1994, Meg was awarded the Harvard Hasty
Pudding Award for being "Woman of the Year" and was also voted as
being one of "The 50 most beautiful people in the world 1994" by
People Magazine.
